How It Works

Five steps from photos to finished animation.

Motion Studio is purpose-built for people who already have a folder of images and want a fast, focused way to turn them into a polished GIF, time-lapse, stop-motion clip, or short video.

Step 1

Import your images

Drag a folder of photos, screenshots, scans, or any other images directly onto the workspace. Motion Studio supports JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, and TIFF. There are no upload limits โ€” everything stays on your device.

Step 2

Arrange the sequence

Reorder frames with drag-and-drop, remove shots you don't need, and decide whether the sequence should follow the filename, timestamp, or a custom manual order. Select ranges with Shift+click for bulk edits.

Step 3

Preview the motion

Press play to watch the animation directly in the workspace. Adjust the global frame rate or set individual hold times per frame. Preview instantly, iterate quickly, and catch pacing issues before you commit to an export.

Step 4

Add context and polish

Enable date overlays to show the timeline of your project โ€” sourced from EXIF metadata or entered manually. Adjust resolution, configure playback behavior, and fine-tune every detail of the output.

Step 5

Export in the format you need

Choose from six output formats โ€” GIF for universal sharing, MP4 for smooth video playback, WebM for the web, APNG for transparency, WebP for lightweight images, or MOV for professional editing pipelines. One project, any format.

Built for real projects

Who uses Motion Studio?

Contractors turning job-site photos into client-facing progress videos. Artists sharing their creative process. Marketers building product story clips. Scientists documenting experiments. Anyone with a folder of images and a story to tell.

Privacy First

Your images stay yours.

During normal use, Motion Studio processes images locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server just to create an animation. Your media, your machine.

Web + Desktop

Use anywhere, install optionally.

Start in the browser with zero setup, or download the desktop app for native performance, background rendering, and larger project support. Both produce identical output.

Open Source

Transparent and extensible.

The full codebase โ€” web app, desktop shell, companion renderer, and this site โ€” is available on GitHub. Inspect it, contribute to it, or fork it for your own needs.
